The best feature of a controlled leakage design, the breakaway seal closes when the coolant is under pressure and "breaks away" when there is no pressure, allowing unlimited dry running. Like controlled leakage designs, negative suction seals can be applied to compressed dry air by creating a tiny gap between the sealing surfaces.
